Company Background

The Royal Bank of Scotland was founded in Edinburgh in 1727.  It is made up of hundreds of past banks which, together, make up the identity of the Royal Bank of Scotland.  Some of these banks, such as Coutts (1692), Child & Co (1640) and Drummonds (1712) are even older than RSB.

It was only in 1874 that RSB was able to have a presence in London.  It wasn’t until the 1960s that Scottish banks were allowed to open branches in England and vice versa.  RSB was hit hard by the 2008 crash and had to be bailed out. Since then, it has worked hard to rebuild resilience, trust and shareholder value.

Worldpay was a subsidiary of RSB until it was sold to Bain Capital and Advent International in 2010.  The two companies retained their close relationship, with Worldpay acting as merchant services provider for RSB.

RSB Merchant Services Pros & Cons

There are no online reviews for RSB Merchant Services.  However, RSB offers its prospective business clients a great variety of products, tailored to their individual needs and, this is backed by the expertise of Worldpay.  The general consensus of opinion is that RSB Merchant Services’ marketing is directed more towards large businesses and corporations than to SMEs.
