WebMoney is a global settlement system which was established in 1998 and now serves almost 40 million people around the world.  It was set up to provide quick and simple solution for people and businesses who wanted to transact online.  Individuals and businesses can use WebMoney without needing a bank account or credit card, this they do through purchasing WM units, a similar concept to bitcoin. WebMoney accounts can be funded using cash at ATMs and kiosks, via bank transfer, postal order, prepaid cards, exchange offices and exchanging from other payment systems.

WebMoney’s head quarters are in Moscow, although, according to the company’s website, its registered office is in Lithuania.   WebMoney’s website gives no information on its 20 year history.
