Tide Card Reader Black Friday Deals
The offer:
- £150 Cash Reward when you process £500 in payments within 60 days.
- 1% Transaction Fees for the first 3 months.
Is it a good deal?
Tide’s Black Friday offer is a little different from the other company’s below.
Instead of offering any savings on their card readers themselves (£49 + VAT or £79 + VAT), they are offering both a cash back bonus and lower transaction fees.
Essentially, if you think you’re likely to process at least £500 worth of payments over the first 60 days of opening you’re account, you can get the card machine essentially for free.
However, you have to be a new Tide customer to take advantage of the offer. Also, after 3 months your transaction fees will go up to 1.5% from 1%, which is still lower than many competitors.

Is it a good deal?
Yes, the myPOS Go 2 at £9.90 + VAT is one of the lowest prices I’ve ever seen on a card machine. You’re extremely unlikely to ever find a better deal.
The only thing I’m not massive fan of with myPOS is that their pricing is slightly more complicated than some of their competitors.
They basically have 3 tiers:
- Domestic and EEA consumer cards: 1.10% + £0.07
- American Express: 2.45% + £0.07
- All other consumer and commercial cards: 2.85% + £0.07
In general, their regular fees are lower than either Tide or SumUp for the vast majority of card transactions in the UK. The one exception is if you’re business gets a lot or tourists and/or business customers, then can end up paying a lot more.
But if you just want a cheap card reader with no other transaction requirements you’re not going to do any better.

Is it a good deal?
These are the lowest prices I’ve seen on a SumUp readers in several years.
But the Air at £19 + VAT is the same as Square’s normal price for theirs.
The good news is that SumUP charges marginally lower transaction fees (1.69% vs 1.75%) and the SumUP Solo with Printer at £84 + VAT is a lot cheaper than the Square Terminal’s normal £149 + VAT price tag if you want a card machine with a printer.
Just keep in mind the myPOS Go Combo (£89 + VAT) has lower fees for domestic cards and the Tide Card Reader Plus (£99 +VAT) also includes a printer and has regular transaction fees of 1.5%.
