The amazing animation above created by TheRankings Youtube Channel shows just how quickly the world’s top 15 brands have changed between 2000 and 2018. During that time there were some big winners and big losers.
The Top 15 Brands and their value in 2000 were:
- Coca-Cola – $72.5 Billion
- Microsoft – $70.2 Billion
- IBM – $53.2 Billion
- Intel – $39.0 Billion
- Nokia – $38.5 Billion
- GE – $38.1 Billion
- Ford – $36.4 Billion
- Disney – $33.6 Billion
- McDonald’s – $27.9 Billion
- AT&T – $25.5 Billion
- Marlboro – $22.1 Billion
- Mercedes-Benz – $21.1 Billion
- HP – $20.6 Billion
- Cisco – $20.1 Billion
- Toyota – $18.8 Billion
And here’s how that list looked in 2018 (companies in bold also top 15 in 2000):
- Apple – $214.4 Billion
- Google – $155.5 Billion
- Amazon – $100.6 Billion
- Microsoft – $92.7 Billion (up 32%)
- Coca-Cola – $66.4 Billion (down 8%)
- Samsung – $59.9 Billion
- Toyota – $53.4 Billion (up 184%)
- Mercedes-Benz – $48.6 Billion (up 130%)
- Facebook – $45.2 Billion
- McDonald’s – $43.4 Billion (up 56%)
- Intel – $43.3 Billion (up 11%)
- IBM – $43.0 Billion (down 19%)
- BMW – $41.0 Billion
- Disney – $39.9 Billion (up 19%)
- Cisco – $34.6 Billion (up 72%)
While 9 of the top 15 brands in 2000 remained in the list by 2018, the top 3 were all new and all worth over $100 Billion. Moreover, Facebook was not even founded in 2000 (founded in 2004) which makes its rise even the more remarkable.
